Saline solution at 0.85% sodium chloride prepared with water used for cell culture. Sodium chloride is a source of chlorine and sodium necessary to the production of components like sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, or chlorate ions.

Applications
Sodium Chloride, 0.85% is useful in the following applications:
- Flushing and cleansing cells
- Preparation of plasmid DNA (removing of small fragments of nucleic acids)
- Realization of phosphate buffer or SSC buffer (sodium chloride – sodium citrate)
- Precipitation of the DNA of samples containing SDS
- Chemical sequencing of DNA
- Protein crystallization
